All right, will fly!

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 05-07-2016

To fly or not to fly, that is the question?

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 05-07-2016

What about Mitteleuropa guys? Do we have a host?

Re: DCS: World - Sithis - 05-07-2016

No sorry I won't make it we are on harbour birthday in Hamburg.

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 05-07-2016

Ok, I know I will be late anyway and I don't much missions to chose from that we haven't played, so we better postpone it for some other day. Maybe change Saturday for Monday or Tuesday?

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 05-20-2016

Why be grounded? C'mon let's fly!

Saturday anyone?

Re: DCS: World - Manuel - 05-20-2016

I'd be up for it. I even have two new missions to contribute Smile

Re: DCS: World - Sithis - 05-20-2016

Sweet I will be there as well!

Re: DCS: World - UnNamedGER - 05-21-2016

I am just installing and configuring the planes on my father's pc

Re: DCS: World - Varanon - 05-21-2016

Since my headtracker arrived now, I want to get into DCS as well.

Any tips on where to start ? Like, should I start with the SU-25 or the A-10 ? Or one of the lock-on planes ? Probably not the KA-52, hehe.

Any pointers appreciated

Re: DCS: World - doveman - 05-21-2016

The KA-50 is actually quite good to start with if you like helos, as it's auto-pilot/stability systems make it relatively easy to fly and en-route you can let the AP do the flying whilst you check your notes, setup weapons, etc. I haven't really got the hang of blowing stuff up with it though (it's normally the other way around), so I can't say how it compares to the other aircraft in that respect.

You'll really appreciate how stable the KA-50 is once you try the Huey! It could be argued that it's better to start with the Huey, as once you've got the hang of that you'll have a much better foundation on which to fly the other helos and the KA-50 will seem like a piece of cake.

It's been a while since I flew but I recall the SU-25T was quite simple to fly and uncomplicated in terms of weapons and sensors, so that's probably a good plane to start with. The F-15C has the Advanced Flight Model (AFM) now so it's quite nice to fly and it's quite easy to get some hits on AI planes in SP. To use it effectively though, especially against human players, you need to learn about the various radar functions and how to use them properly to find the enemy before he finds you but it's not that complicated if you've got a bit of time to learn and enough buttons/hats on your stick that you can map to operate it easily.

The A-10 I've barely touched since I bought it many years ago and it's probably the most complicated of the lot but plenty of people manage to use it, so if you've got the time to study it and a good memory then it's probably not too bad.

Su25 is really quick to learn and if you want to start with just guns and rockets. The Su25T and A-10c just take a little bit longer if you start with the basics. All three are quite easy to handle and the Su 25T and A10c can be learned step by step from there.
