But there's Mi-8 in the works, see pictures:

Wow, that's got even more switches than the KA-50 Wink

Re: DCS: World - kutya - 06-21-2013

Misha thanks again!

Now I have everything except the Mustang (and the time to actually play them). IMO the Mustang isn't really part of the DCS "universe".

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 06-22-2013

Yeah, now I got everything besides Mustang too.

If they made at least 5-6 non-flyable models of ww2 planes and proper map I would consider buying Mustang. What this game desparately needs is DCS level of detail modern era fighter.

Re: DCS: World - doveman - 09-10-2013

Wow, great deals there, thanks for the tip Misha.

Although I think I've got enough for now with my Blackshark, Huey and DCS-A10C and I still haven't mastered any of them. I did a search and rescue mission in the Huey the other day and managed to get there without getting shot down but I couldn't land the damn thing on the side of a hill (I'm not actually sure I was meant to land but I think so) and ended upside down!

I printed out about half (200 pages) of the Blackshark manual today though, to read whilst I'm staying away from home for the next three weeks whilst the builders do their stuff, so maybe after that I'll have a better idea of what the hell I'm supposed to be doing Wink

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 09-10-2013

Yeah, I spent so little time with any DCS aircraft lately because it takes too much time even if you want to play just one mission. And I remember once flying for more than two hours in one mission, I was exhausted!

I bet Huey can be fun once you master it. Huey is most difficult to fly but it doesn't have all that complicated systems of A-10 which is on the other hand very easy to fly. I even managed to complete some campaign missions for Huey but it is very frustrating to crash on landing in the end of the mission and to start mission all over again.

Yeah, it's nice sometimes to find missions where you start in the air and don't have to go through all the startup, even if you cheat and use the auto-start it's still annoying to wait that time and then fly to the waypoint and get shot down straight away.

Sometimes I think I should make some missions for myself where I start near the action, so at least I won't have wasted loads of time getting there when I get shot down Wink

I haven't played many Huey missions yet but I did have fun flying around the airport a few feet above the ground the other day. It seems quite easy to control near the ground, perhaps more so than the KA-50, it's just when I go higher it's get a bit trickier to keep it straight. Maybe I should try and find some stealthy missions where I fly nap of the earth and creep up on the enemy  ;D

Hey, maybe this will be of interest to you! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/508681281/dcs-wwii-europe-1944

You should probably be aware the some of the developers involved with this project apparently made a mess of the CloD project but then again they did develop IL-2 before that http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1212-discussion-about-dcsww2-goes-here/page-8

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109847&highlight=dcs+wwII

There's also the issue that if the stretch goals aren't met, then the extra planes might not be made and as the core game and planes are going to be free-to-play, you won't be getting anything more for your contribution than someone who didn't contribute anything.

Personally, I'm more interested in modern helos/jets and am looking forward to EDGE coming to DCSW Smile

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 09-14-2013

I've been following developments regarding former Il-2 team and of course I am interested in DCS WWII. But it's strange that they have started kickstarter after people lost their fate in the team after CoD fiasco. Also, it looks like it's not realistic to expect to reach anything more than basic 100.000 $ goal. I wish they manage somehow still.

To complicate matters further other part of the former team is working with 777 to bring Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad based on the Rise of Flight engine.

They do not overlap that much since first one covers 1944 period and second 1942-1943. Interesting times ahead!

Re: DCS: World - kutya - 08-14-2014

Pity the F-86 Sabre isn't on sale. It's probably too new. I had some nice times with that old game Mig Alley.

Re: DCS: World - Variable - 08-14-2014

How come DCS doesn't have the Apache or the Cobra? Or there are and I'm just misinformed?

Re: DCS: World - doveman - 08-14-2014

In the case of the Apache I think it's mainly because too much information is still classified and thus they can't model it accurately. I think they're working on a AH-1 at the moment. My Dad just gave me back the Jane's AH-64D Longbow sim I apparently bought him some years ago. I only really wanted it for the nice thick manual full of interesting info Wink

Re: DCS: World - Variable - 08-14-2014

It can't be classification, I'm no expert and I know enough about the Apache's guidance system in order to model a high fidelity simulation and there's enough information on the net. Even Janes simulator was very accurate in terms of the weapon system.
