Re: DCS: World - Sithis - 03-02-2016

Saturday 1900 UTC (2000CET) DCS NIGHT!!!

Reminder post once again, sadly Unnamed wont be there, so I will try to host again.
So far I have three missions lined up depending on who is going to fly on Saturday:

1. 4xA-10C+JTAC
2. 4XP51
3. Mig21+Uh-1+A10c+P51

Of course we can start with a little practice on the training map again.

If you guys could let me know weather you are coming or not and what planes you want to fly, than I can make another mission or two by saturday.

See you on the RWY Wink

Re: DCS: World - UnNamedGER - 03-03-2016

I am almost envious because I don't get to fly

Re: DCS: World - Misha - 03-03-2016

Yeah, I plan to fly, all things being equal.

I don't have p-51 yet, I won't have till Saturday but if it's possible to fit TP version instead into some meaningful role or maybe it's better just to include some other plane as I haven't really flown that aircraft yet.

However, I would like to try MiG-21 in the real mission, although I must have some practice when it comes to it's weapons.

EDIT:

I was testing MiG-21 yesterday and I had a blast. Turned on afterburner, climbed at 70-80 degrees angle and in no time I was at 6000 m height. Tried to see how high it can go and I went to 22.000 m before I was interrupted and had to quit. Noticed that somehow I busted my engine twice after disengaging afterburner, not sure why, is it some kind of delicacy of the old school technology that I am not familiar with or a bug?

Re: DCS: World - Sithis - 03-03-2016

Oh the the Mig21 is a beautiful but vicious beast. She will loose its munition if you pull too much G and its engine will stall unless you treat it like the delicate princess it is.

Once you are aware of its limitations its a blast to fly though. Quick like a rocket on a caffein high and with the S24B it packs quite the punch in the A-G realm.

And also the most shot-down jet in history Tongue

Well if you make a cheap ass supersonic rocket and give it to everybody who is interested, a few of them might end up eating a missle or two  ;D

Here's the article on usage of DCS for training MiG-21 pilots in Serbian Air Force:

Guess you have to use google translate.

Re: DCS: World - Sithis - 03-06-2016

AAR TIME!

Good morning everybody, nice flying once again. Sadly I will not make it next weekend, but I will set up some extra Coop flying options the week before Easter if anybody is interested.

Training
Just some practice with various planes and weapon systems. It is nice to see that we are quickly approaching the point where we will have 5 completely mission ready Hog drivers. Smile
AFAC+4 CAS anybody?!

Shadow on the sun
Holy shit this mission is hard and I think we spend over three hours on it. I only died once, but RTBed on one engine twice. Even with the more primitive AAA, when it is ambushing you and it is hidden, so you can not line up from far away, they are still killers. Anyway, apart from the long flight times, once we got there we had some nice moments with coordinated attacks and convoys having 4 A-10 raining down on them one after the other.

Hawg 1-1 limping home on one engine

Hawg 1-1 and Hawg 1-2 lined up after repairs. Hawg 1-3 was forced to go into the grass after landing due to battle damage

Sonic Boom
Kind of prove of concept mission, on how well different fast movers can work together to provide CAS. It worked alright, but I think we need to adopt some real life procedures if we want to make it more coordinated.

Stacking CAS comes to mind.

But flying anything on afterburner is pure joy, espacially when I get to shoot some rockets while I am at it  ;D .

Kutaisi Rocket Program
Same concept aircraft wise, but with a little more resistance and story attached to it.
We lost quite a few aircraft, but I think most were due to us goofing around since it was already past 1 in the morning.

I noticed that airport and target need to be a little further apart. So I will probably set up another mission like this and hopefully we can try it when everybody is a little more awake and utilize the ability to cover one another more.

What do you guys think about this kind of mission and what would you like to see added/changed in the future?

Thats what I call a "Party-Mix"

Highnoon
Just a little Dogfighting PvP with modern jets. Sadly both Etzu and me had problems with our set up, but it still made for some great pictures.
I love this kind of stuff even when I get obliterated, because it is a quick hop in fight hop out kind of deal without much transit. Espacially after or between long missions.

Come on poke him with the refuelling probe!
