Quick recap on last 2 nights:
Topolka Cross
(Alpha-AT (Varanon))
Destroy AA. Eliminate hostiles at dam
Tough mission and plenty of job for AT. We decided to approach dam first and chose to use road to south. We dropped mortar team (Variable-KMAN) midway to setup indirect fire support. We disembarked 150m from x-roads and split teams. Bravo got to heavy firefight almost immediately. We moved to assist and on our way back I spotted armed MRAP. I was able to get a shot through the forest, kaboom.
Alpha got to heavy firefight at x-roads and took fire from dam and opposite hillside both. Varanon called in mortar fire and I engaged one BTR and another MRAP at the dam. I scored hits but was shortly killed after this.
Night raid Rumaya
(BRDM-2 gunner (Valhalian))
Raid insurgent compound
Simple setup and genuine Phantomer so no shortage of targets. We set up to support infantry push on left flank and scored first hits right at start. Unfortunately we weren't in best position to support the infantry as they got closer to compound. We relocated BRDM to right flank and it likely would have been a better move at start. Infantry had already taken casualties but for us it was a turkey shoot.
We spotted several technicals approaching compound but they were no match for KPV. Unfortunately there was also a tank and this time BRDM wasn't a match against tank. Kaboom. EOM.

Raid insurgent compound. Locate rogue CIA asset, destroy trucks
We took two attempts with this one. Both attempts utilized roughly similar tactic. Have one team to sneak up on BMP crew, capture it and use it for support.Â
On first attempt McGregor left Variable behind up on hill with SMAW and HE warhead. We sneaked upon the compound, boss commanded us to open fire and we eliminated the BMP crew quickly. All good so far. However we received a counterattack relatively shortly and came under heavy grenade fire from the hill slope resulting lots of casualties.
Second attempt was roughly same setup. This time I was SMAW gunner in overwatch with Valhalian and heavy mg. Team sneaked up and we quickly eliminated the BMP crew. I pelted the area with 40mms and Valhalian put mg fire to target. I was then commanded to get into BMP-1 and support infantry.Â
Operating Soviet period metallic trashcan at night time alone isn't without its..challenges. I had to swap between seats and drivers periscope is very narrow. This resulted to some close calls and I accidentally bumped Phantom and Val with it. Fortunately no casualties.
I put some rounds at approaching infantry and got a report of the Mi-24 approaching. I scored hits with PKT and in the end 2 direct hits with Grom cannon. Splash one hind.
Variable gave me free hands to operate vehicle and directed fire with flares and smoke. Lots of bush, buildings, so obtaining targets was what it was. I knocked over walls and simply used the HE cannon for effect with my best guesses. Apparently it worked. I eliminated two target trucks and infantry demolition specialists took care of the rest two.
Variable spotted BTR but despite use of flares I couldn't get it to my sights. I think it got stuck to ravine. However it wouldn't have been threat to me in BMP but I was concerned of infantry.
Boots on ground located Bishop and we had bumpy extraction with BMP. Mission complete, but hopefully this returns in TT.
Island Thunder ep 5
(A - Demo specialist (Alwarren))
Locate missing pilots
Another good IT2 ep. Not much work with demolitions but plenty of action otherwise. We chose straightforward approach to west, and got to heavy firefight at the village/x-roads. We took cover in a building and traded shots with opposite side for a while. Alwarren gave order to disengage and we started moving towards objective.
Alwarren lost connection at church, I took over for a short period. Alpha located pilot at top floor of one of the villas, Alwarren returned and we continued the mission. Bravo was sent to secure another compound and me and Valhalian had a short firefight as we were investigating one of the other villas.Â
Another pilot found, and with both of them in tow we had uneventful hike to extraction.

Play the mission yourself and find out.
Life was short&brutal for Kenny. Kenny had it coming. Kenny had a blast (sic). Kenny enjoyed it while it lasted.
Fog of war
(AA TL)
Shoot down Takistani general
This time our chosen approach was more straight forward. Varanon decided to keep both teams on north side of airfield. AA team was to take position at hilltop near eastern side of runway, sabotage team was further west and sniper duo somewhere in middle.
I think the fog effect was better this time although navigating was still challenging. Thanks to Variable for providing me assistance. On the higher ground fog bank faded and transit to op was uneventful although atmospheric.
We got a message of general attempting to land and Varanon declared open fire. My AT specialists (Variable, Val, Brad) took aim. Two Stingers on a Su-25 on final approach = one fried general. Saboteur team started their push to trucks and we opened up on targets at airfield. Ural ZU-23's are hot so Variable was able to lock to one with a Stinger, removing a potential threat.
Unfortunately door gunners of helicopters eliminated our saboteur team and assumedly the sniper duo. I got no response in radio, and as my team was out of ordnance, I gave order to evacuate to boats. This time we actually found them without 5 min search in the cursed fog. Variable gave me exit vector and after dodging fire from Mi-17 we extracted. Partially complete, but fog of war will return.Â
Prince of Persia VII
(A-Marksman (Alwarren))
Eliminate peace delegates (ugly but it pays well)
This is turning out to be a huge nemesis. Trigger is still too unforgiving. It IS possible to complete as I intend it but it has very limited margin for error. We got further this time though and eliminated one of targets.
I will continue adjustments.

Raid two towns with friendly motor rifles
Ye, that really was name of the mission. This turned out to be nice simple infantry snack. Our BMPs started their move at the mission start leaving the infantry bite the dust. I think we should have stayed in vehicle for longer but I didn't want to restart.
Not many ways to approach objective. Surrounding terrain was pretty much open plain. Valhalian's short controlled bursts kept the enemy busy and we cleared the first objective.Â
Enroute to second objective we spotted a tank at a distance. Problem was, we were in pretty much plain open. Fortunately tank got distracted as there wouldn't have been any way for us to take it out at that range. We got closer to only building on area giving us any cover and our ATs managed to eliminate the tank. Great job.
After that our grenadiers opened up on town and we had easy job to finish the task. Nice work people, SL was pleased.Â
