No, no, play however you want. I'm a guest here, and it will all be fine with me. If the rest of you prefer 'veteran' difficulty, then don't change on my account! I'm just asking these questions for informational purposes. I suspected that it was a higher difficulty setting, but I wasn't sure. So I asked.
I will say that, as quickly as we were killed on that mission, we probably weren't up to 'veteran,' huh? Heh, heh. I know I wasn't!

Again, I was asking because I'm trying to learn. As a complete newbie, I have enough problem just following orders. But afterwards, I like to think about it. I like to try to learn from it.
In fact, I've seen YouTube videos of Arma III, where the players have a quick debriefing at the end of a mission, to discuss what they did right and what they did wrong. I like that, at least in a video (in a mission, you might end up with unending debate, unless the leader was careful to keep it very brief).
Hmm,... in a similar circumstance, it might be useful to have an initial briefing, too: what we expect to find, where we can expect to encounter enemy soldiers, how we expect to tackle the mission, etc. I know that I was unsure if we should expect the enemy to be inside homes, or just wandering the streets.
Of course, that kind of thing might slow down gameplay, too. And I suspect that you've discussed these sorts of things long ago and already found what works best for you. As a newbie, I just don't know what you've already considered and rejected (for good reason, I'm sure).
Quote:Have you thought about getting Arma 2?
No, I won't be getting Arma 2. If it were last fall, I'd really be tempted, because I have a lot more time to play games in the winter. (Of course, this past winter I played games pretty much non-stop, anyway, so I really didn't need another one!)
I get a lot busier this time of the year, especially in the daytime (which is when you play, for me). And although Arma 3 might not have much content right now, compared to Arma 2, it's still in alpha, so that's liable to change. As time goes on, I guess I'd expect more and more Arma 2 players to migrate to Arma 3.
But even if that doesn't happen, I don't think I have time for both. And as a complete newbie, I like the fact that content is limited in Arma 3. That's one of the reasons I bought it, so I could learn before it got completely overwhelming.
Frankly, I never intended to play it multiplayer. I figured I'd just do single-player missions a bit. And I do that, when I can, as a learning tool, since random co-op missions online haven't been too great. But after playing good co-op missions, like with you guys, I can see that multiplayer is far more fun. It will be hard to stick with single-player after that, I think.
