Nato symbols use oblong rectangles for BLUFOR, Diamond-shapes for OPFOR, and squares for independent/neutral (plus a cloud-shape for unknown).
Unfortunately, the symbols are very limited. For example, anti-air units are normally an arc-shape on the bottom, with either a dot (artillery) or a stylized rocket (missiles) in the center. The artillery icon is available, but neither the arc shape nor the missile are. I wish they had provided a full set.
I don't need luck, I have ammo.
