Any tips for Key-Binding Thrust/Flight stick - Den - 09-15-2015

I brought a Black Widow Flight Stick ( http://www.speedlink.com/?p=2&cat=314&pid=21606&paus=2 ) and was wondering if anyone has tips for the key binds, especially thrust.

It seems really fiddly as >50% Thrust feels like full and <50% like complete stop. Is this an Arma 'Feature' or am I binding something wrong (I am new to other preipherals than KB/Mouse)? Crashed many helicopters in SP.

Unrelated, but so far my first impressions with it are good and seems reasonable for price, something new to get used to.

I think you have to set the thrust on "raise collective" from min to max and the other way around on "lower collective", but i'm not sure.

No no no, wrong. Map both the + and -  of what ever axis your throttle is to "raise collective" and leave "lower collective" empty

Thanks Evans and McGregor, but McGregor's way seems to have worked for helicopters now.  8)

There seem to be a few issues, such as only half the rudder range working if you have two rudder devices connected (e.g. a joystick with twist rudder and pedals) but I haven't had time to test things myself. It's all a bit of a mess at the moment though and some people still say you have to use something like GlovePie to make it work properly.

Oh well, DCS 1.5 should be out today or tomorrow Smile Even though it's a complicated sim I still find it easier to fly choppers in that, as the controls work properly!

Adding to what McGregor said and what was written in the bug report by the dev. I'll try the plane thing but not sure about the helicopter part so I'll leave McG's way.

Ok, let's sum it up. To have the full extent of one axis used on an action it has to be mapped this way:


- Airplanes
-- Throttle - both halves of the chosen axis have to be mapped on Throttle (Analogue)
-- Airbrake - both halves of the chosen axis have to be mapped on Brake (Analogue)


- Helicopters
-- Collective - half of the chose axis has to be mapped on Collective raise (Analogue) the other half on Collective lower (Analogue)


(This way it gives you exact control over the collective in 0-100% range both with Standard and Advanced flight model. For example with Hummingbird a hover can be maintained with collective around 60% with SFM and around 50% with AFM.)
