Setting up a local dedicated server - Outlawz7 - 03-20-2015

1. Download and install Tophe's Arma Dedicated Server Tool (TADST)
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11655

The interface should be simple to understand, you activate server mods in the Mods tab, select mission in Missions tab etc.

There is a tooltips box in Details tab which displays help tips when you hover buttons etc.

Remember to point the app to the location of your arma3server.exe (Details/Server file), should be located in
"\SteamGames\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\arma3server.exe"

2. Keeping TADST open, Launch your ArmA3 game, go to editor and open the mission you want to test and under Save options select Export to Multiplayer missions.

3. Alt+Tab to TADST, go to Missions tab, refresh and your exported mission should appear.

In Details tab, set up an admin password.

In Mods tab, activate any mods that you or your mission uses.

Select the LAUNCH button at bottom left of the app (in any tab). You will see ArmA3 loading. Once loaded, a small window should pop up called 'ArmA3 Console version'. This is your dedicated game.

4. Alt+Tab back to your regular ArmA3 game, go to main menu/Play/Multiplayer and look for LAN games. Your dedicated server should be shown in the list.

Join the server and login as admin with '#login your_admin_password_you_set_up_earlier' then click Continue to start the game. Being admin will allow you to use MP server commands to control the game. Alternately you can enable voting in Rules tab and vote yourself admin.

Have fun testing your mission on your own dedicated server!  Tongue

Thank you mate!!!

Re: Setting up a local dedicated server - Phantom - 03-22-2016

I'm having some troubles now with this after some recent updates. Every time I start a mission with TADST, all the vehicles I see sinks to the ground, infantry sink or float in midair, and there'll be some very wonky PhysX issues now. Does anyone know what setting I'd have to put to make it work? I have no issues on the CiA server's dedicated server, but the one hosted off my machine is too wonky.

EDIT: I think I may need to double check my Arma 3 Server installation... its not installed on steam :/ . Double checking.

You don't need to install it from steam, the standalone server is part of the main package. The Tools tab installation is only for a completely client-less install.

I used it last week to test my mission and default settings worked fine for me. I didn't change any settings on any tab.

Try to check unit positioning or move them a little? Maybe they're a little in the ground or a bug in the terrain?

Re: Setting up a local dedicated server - Phantom - 03-22-2016

Yeah. I moved them up, moved them around and its all bad. Like I said. I tested the exact same mission on CiA dedicated server with no problem. As a matter of fact, any mission on my end now (including ones that worked and have already played) went fubar.

Example. I tested my Heroes of Katita mission and the car was halfway in the ground so I can't drive or move it. Resistance of Katita I had soldiers standing in the sky, some underground, etc.

EDIT: Oh... forgot to enable CUP Terrains... woops.
