Not much to say in terms of debriefing. I loved the mission, even though it killed me. When I was dead, I had the chance to spectate some of the awesomeness.

Supply Interruption

A good mission utterly ruined by one too many objectives. It all started out nicely, and it took a good while to get to the power grid and airport. And then it slaps another completely useless and overspawned objective on top of it. A typical example of a mission overstaying its welcome. It's the tipping point were a good mission becomes bad.

I would guess this was very much made with respawn play-style in mind. Move fast, and if you get killed, just respawn and repeat. I noticed that in the Zeus launch livestream as well, one of the comments went something like "they go much slower than we usually do" and Moricky replied "they don't want to get killed, they're all used to play without respawn and they are not going to just keep throwing themselves at it and respawn if it didn't work", or something of that nature. Showed again here, and the main reason I dislike respawn.

Shapur Assault

First of all, too many effing magazines. I was carrying a load of 60 kg, five missiles, 16 mags. Granted, the mission was probably done before the fatigue cam in, but five missiles and 16 mags never were a realistic loadout, and I wish people would adjust their missions so that you don't need that amount, or you can scavange, or get supply drops etc.

Not really much that was done wrong in this mission, it was mostly bad luck. I was killed by the stupid action menu because it started to heal me instead of reload.

Overall, for the scope I had, the engagements were too long, making this a pretty bland mission for me.

Red Herring

A really well done mission. No idea how Variable died, I took over command and I do think I did mostly well. My demise was stupid though... I knew there was a guy directly ahead behind the building I was taking cover, and instead of ordering a team around the building to flank, I peeked out myself and immediately got shot. Doh.

Hope the author makes more missions. This wasn't the usual overspawn shhotfest you see so often.

Saving the SEALs

I really liked the first part of the mission up to the point were we attacked the Russian comms. Dodging the patrols was fun, and sometimes it was so damn close that you could smell their farts. The part after that got a drag. Too far to walk, too boring, no patrols anymore. And then when we finally freed the SEALs, up comes the next extra task that, again, made the mission tilt over and fall flat on its face. If there is such a gap between tasks, don't overstretch the mission by adding Yet Another Task.

It's too bad Etzu got jumped by that patrol, with one man down we didn't really have a lot of a chance. Good work Variable on freeing those hostages, but in the end, there were too many enemies coming out of nowhere.

Was nice to pilot, i don't have that chance in a tactical mission too often. Is not easy to insert a heli in a tactical mission and make it look natural and not forced in. For CAS was walk in the park, transport helicopter kept safe distance and survived. Good job everyone.

Supply Interruption

Well this one was a downer for me from the start when i saw VIRTUAL AMMO BOX and "infinite" lives. Despite i like my visual range as bigger i discovered i don't like having the option to tweak it in action menu is a immersion breaker for me.
My physic state couldn't  get any better after that but i enjoyed the company.

Shapur Assault

Too bad i couldn't see the end of it. I like the map even is not the best from old ARMA maps. I enjoyed the role as autorifleman on a open map like that, more chances to go ratatatatatataaaaa.... Smile Wasn't a problem of ammo since i had plenty, we were like a mule flock.

Re: The Debriefing Thread - doveman - 08-25-2014

Foothold

Nice mission, although it's a bit jerky on my PC. The armour still appears to be firing in the opposite direction to the LZ, so I'm not sure if it's a threat to them that we need to worry about. Saw a message about enemy submarines threatening the landing teams but I don't think there's much we could do to help them with that.

When we approached the armour they stopped firing and seemed to disappear but it looked like they resumed later, when we were at the re-arm place and the other team got wiped out shortly after that, so maybe that was the armour. We had some fun dodging patrols (who flanked and got right behind us at one point) and engaging a couple of vehicles and infantry near the re-arm point before then.

The Rising Sun

I couldn't see the enemy at all at the house where we first engaged them (nor for most of the mission actually) so just had to fire in their approximate direction, although I could see the other team when they were advancing towards the road on our left, so I guess the fog was less thick in places. I think it was too long as it's frustrating to play for over an hour and then get killed before reaching the objective and missions this long would be better broken into multiple missions, like a campaign.

Re: The Debriefing Thread - Outlawz7 - 08-25-2014

Foothold

Made it to the beach without any threat, crossed the main road when paratroops landed in front of us. Got hit from road patrols while engaging the paras and got wiped out.

The Rising Sun

I think we took it way too slow or had no clue at all what we were doing, at least I didn't. I was gunning the Strider GMG and alwarren asked several times while driving where we were going and I replied 'don't know, just follow the main road'. We got bogged down in Zaros and it wasn't even part of the mission objectives.

Don't know what happened when we finally got wiped out one road turn from the first objective, but Misha's team in the hunter thought they hit a mine while me and alwarren were certain it was GMG fire and bypassed them to engage, either way we ended up in a nice fireball altogether. I did take out an Ifrit sitting down the road from us once we were revived, so I'm sticking to the GMG story.

Ah, so maybe next time we ignore the armour, as it doesn't seem to be a threat to us and (if there's time and we need to) head to the re-arm point and then back towards the beach to support the landing party.

I didn't have a GPS; and the fog was pretty heavy so I didn't really know what was going on. I certainly lacked guidance in this mission, especially after Variable got shot in Zaros. Half of the time I had no idea what the plan was.

It certainly wasn't mines. There were no craters under the Hunter,  and usually a hunter can take a mine. But As Outlawz said, we were certain it was GMG or RPG fire, not mines, so we went ahead to cover the Hunter crew who was now down on the floor bleeding out.

Re: The Debriefing Thread - alias - 08-25-2014

So you guys played FOOTHOLD again?

Thank you!

Armor at the beginning is "busy" with CAS, in theory shouldn't be a threat but from time to time they try to shoot at players.

Could be a bit laggy in first 4 minutes or so.

Was it playable lagwise after 3-4 min? Any bugs? Should i work on the next episode or i'm pissing against the wind with the mission making? Smile

If by any chance you have suggestions pls use this thread http://ciahome.net/forum/index.php?topic=3236.0

Thanks!

Drop Down - Syrta

Too complicated Big Grin Great missing, too bad the ammo crate didn't work for me, which was weird. It was empty first, then it had the standard loadout.

Bomberman III

Getting delta out will be tricky. I would really welcome the team leader having a scope on his weapon, otherwise he will be completely useless for the mission (unless he moves, but there isn't really much where Alpha can go to).

White Knight

Charlie is in deep shit at the beginning, and personally I don't think running is an option. I would try with an arty shell near the barn, use the Hunter's GMG for the technical and then use it to kill the troops at the barn. The rest of the team can try to suppress them to make them stay there until the artillery shell arrives.

Did the helos get shot down? If yes, by what? Do I need to adjust this?

The Rising Sun

Adding to what I said above, I share Outlawz opinion that we should have moved faster. Also, friendly fire... obviously we didn't look like CSAT, and while I agree that identifying the enemy in the fog is difficult, I could clearly see that I was shot to shit by NATO.

I do think the Explosive specialist should be in the lead vehicle. A few mine accidents could have been avoided. Usually, thought, the MRAPs should be pretty okay against mines.

It managed to fire a pissed-off missile in my general direction, and even though I felt the impact close by (flashing red screen) it wasn't enough to hurt me. Made me almost wet my pants though Smile

Well we didn't last long, but by all means, start the next one please Smile

Re: The Debriefing Thread - Variable - 08-25-2014

Drop Down Syrta
Oh now that was a great mission. Everybody performed well and it was nice to see how Alpha's attack is relieving some pressure off of us in Bravo. We caught the enemy in the FOB while it was concentrating fire on Alpha and it was nice to surprise them like that. The Mohawk reinforcements were a different thing... These guys landed about 40 meters away and immediately fired so much bullets on us my ears exploded. They also fired grenades and took down the wall I used to take cover. I ran fast up the stairs of the big tower and managed to take cover again by the metal walls. Still the fire was so intense that if it was real life I would have hugged my knees and and cried for my mommy, you'll see for yourself once I upload the movie Smile
I don't know what saved the day there. Maybe it was Alpha or the other guys on my team, or both.

White Knight
Next time I suggest we use the GMG Hunter, the A10 and the artillery to support the team that is under fire. until we get to them.

Foothold
Played as the partisan leader. I swear these Tigrises just vanished after they shot down the A10... Nice firefight at the smuggler rearm point. I was wondering what happened to the team that got wiped out, I like the debriefing thread Smile

Bomberman Three
I'm hyped about the convoy ambush in this mission, it gets my adrenalin running... With the additional mines, this is how I suggest we do that next time:

Ignore the red dots, they are the mission's. Blue dots represent friendly units positions. Orange dot is the explosive charge, yellow dots represents a cage made by AP mines that will prevent the truck to escape by taking out its wheels. RPG should be carried by the leader and take out the read armed Ifrit once the lead Ifrit is destroyed by the explosive. Machine gunner should suppress the enemy while the medic is down the road to make sure the truck doesn't get away if it manages to slip thtough the AP mine cage (stopping the truck is more important than provide first aid at this point...). RPG can take out the other unarmed Ifrit as well and then fight off the infantry.

Rising Sun
I was confused most of the times as well. Orders need to be precise and clear, not just thoughts or recommendations. I wasn't even sure I'm following Misha's orders half of the time, I was just trying my best to follow what I though he'd meant. I don't want to come out as harsh - but we could have beaten that one rather easily with all that firepower we had. A bit more clear communications would have made wonders in this one.

Re: The Debriefing Thread - Watchmen - 08-25-2014

Rising Sun

If you guys don't mind i interject even though i wasn't present for game night, im the guy who made Rising Sun. Previously i had no idea you could upload missions files to the forums so i've been corresponding with variable via email and sending attachments :-\

Anyway after spending a few minutes reading through the debriefing thread i find it strange because it seems the mission failed at the part when you go through the town. I expressed my surprise to variable in our emails because what perplexes me is that mission failed at that very point, you will see my reasons for thinking so. Players outnumber the number of enemy forces patroling the town and areas around it, unless not all the slots were filled but even then, the most powerful enemy unit was a single HMG ifrit which i read was destroyed by one of the gmg cars. The only AT resistance comprises of a few foot soliders and on the left road, 4 Apers mines at the exact location the Stryder ran over but for some reason there were no marks on the floor. There were very little enemies, less than players and i dont use ai scripts so i dont know how it could have failed at this point.

I wasnt around so i dont know how it was played but here are a few strategies i designed the players to utilize incase you missed them:

-Use the thermal optics on all 3 cars to function as overwatch to see through the fog while the infantry move forward into the town and cover them with the 40gmg armaments. Communicate with the rifle team to inform them of enemy positions they cannot see

-The mortar should be used to take out stubborn enemy positions in the fog that you cant see or to clear ab area with surety before moving in

-The ammo truck is meant to be protected closely because it will serve as a profoundly helpful asset. It provides a nearly unlimited supply of ammo for the 40gmg cannons that can easily lay waste to the number of enemy troops inside the town and around, hidden in the fog or not. Adding this unit in also incorporates some gameplay principles of a convoy escort which could be fun.

-The 2 repair specialists from nato and aaf should each stick close to a car, keep it repaired and mobile. I agree with Alwareen is was probably friendly fire that destroyed part of the convoy so becareful when firing.

-Staying in strict formation and precisely plotting out routes with the SL beforehand will reduce confusion on friendly positions and thus friendly fire incidents.

Re: The Debriefing Thread - Misha - 08-25-2014

Rising Sun

And now word from the leader, myself.

It is not so pleasant when you jump in the coop and first (and only) mission you play is so demanding. Talking about logistics and communications. It was very busy most of the time, with people asking, responding, not responding, moving around for whatever reason, losing lr radios, ... This last thing was a reason for a longest delay in our movement from the enemy occupied town. However, there was no easy way through, we would have even more casualties if we had just went full speed with vehicles. Taking a longer route around is possible alternative option, may try it next time, but with mines everywhere, who knows.

Anyway, while I have always doubted my abilities as a leader, especially on missions like these that require tight coordination, I do have to say that you can always ask again what are standing orders if you're not sure.

Delays in communication are expected in busy situations, so if no answer or no clear answer is given, ask again. I realized I told green team "to provide support" but that sounds too ambiguous and may be the reason for friendly fire incident. What I really meant is stay where you are and cover us.

Near the last objective, I got really worn out, and when Doveman suggested using mortar I declined, because of the time already wasted, which eventually might have led to mission fail.

Yes, explosive specialist should have been from the start till finish in the lead vehicle, most of the time it didn't, luckily we survived all mines and were able to fix the vehicle. However, we took advantage of ammo truck and thermal scope was very useful.

No, we were past the town already. The mission failed when the front Hunter was I think attacked by a GMG, at least there was a sudden explosion and the lead car went up in smoke. I pulled the Stryder past it to be able to engage what was attacking and immediately exploded myself. TBH, I have no idea what was shooting at us. It came out of a couple of bushes down the road (I *think*) but since I was driving I couldn't really tell.

To reiterate, we were past the town and approaching the first objective on the southward leg of the road. What killed us I never saw, and it was very sudden and out of the blue. I do not think it were mines. We had been running into mines before, but those didn't just blow up the Hunter just like that. Here, it looked like missiles hit us, in rapid succession, but I only saw the car explode and then got hit myself, so, as I said, never knew what hit us.
