Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Zwobot - 10-31-2009 I went to the local store today and let them setup some rigs without much preconditions, this is what they came up with: Power supply: 650W Corsair CMPSU-650TXEU Mainboard: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Processor: Intel Core i7 920 CPU cooling: Noctua U12P Cooler SE1366 RAM: 3x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz OCZ Obsidian CL9 Graphics card: MSI GeForce GTX295 1792MG 2xDVI or Power supply: 750W Corsiar CMPSU-750TXEU Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UDP5 AM3 Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965BE CPU cooling: Zalman CNPS-9500 AM2 green light RAM: 2x2GB OCZ Obsidian DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL9 Graphics card: 2x XFX Radeon HD4890 1GB XXX or Power supply: 650W Corsair CMPSU-650TXEU Mainboard: ASUS M3N-HT DELUXE Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU cooling: Xilence Icebreaker 64Pro AM2 RAM: 2x2 GB OCZ DDR2-800 CL5 Heatspreader Graphics card: XFX Radeon HD4890 1GB XXX I haven't been following the hardware developments for years and have no clue of all this technobabble, so what do you think? There could be more RAM on either of the options but as far as I can tell this woul easily be possible with all the Mainboards. I'm going to cross-check the components with the ArmaII Mark thread in the BI forum and want to order a system next week... Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Overlord - 10-31-2009 I guess that only the Intel i7 cost almost the same as a complete AMD system? Isn't it the Phenom 965 who got the big OC potential too? You know you can select a nVidia gfx card even if you run AMD CPU and vice versa ? As for the AA2 performance it seems to need really fast HDs, huge amount of RAM or a SSD disk due to the non-caching of files. That's right. If Arma 2's performance is what you are after, it seems wise to kick up the speed of the HD (Solid state maybe?) and get lots of RAM. Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Overlord - 01-19-2010 Well, rig running Here is a (highly compressed, half sized FLV) 30 sec from a quick copy & paste mission in editor (fraps only record in 30 fps), don't bother commenting heli pilot : It's ACE2 mod @1920x1080, HW straight out of the box Mission run at actual 42-48 fps, around 30 planes in air on Asus Crosshair III Formula - 790FX/AM3 AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz BE 125W OCZ BE 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 SSD X25-M MLC 2.5 - 80 gB - SATA-300 XFX Radeon 5750 ;D Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Variable - 01-19-2010 (01-19-2010, 03:04 AM)Overlord link Wrote: Well, rig running Congratulations! Have fun with it... What FPS do you get in those heavily densed forest areas? And in Chernogrosk city? Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Overlord - 01-19-2010 Just installed ArmA last night and have not done much testing yet. My gfx driver ain't optimal and I need to find out how W7 handels gfx. But on the few missions I've tried I got from 35-60 (once or twice a but under or a bit over (30/80). Hope I'll find out more tonight, It's all up to me, can't blame lag anymore... Re: The ArmA 2 Dream PC - Anguis - 01-19-2010 Now, um, the true test is to see whether or not OFP runs on it. . .
