Resistance of Katita

I was in Den's team (Alpha). Holding the line took some time and we had multiple bad guys approaching on foot, reinforced with number of technical vehicles. However we were in good position, able to support the weapon, and we eliminated the gunners effectively.

We spotted hostiles incoming from our left flank aka north, moved to assist, and I spotted armed vehicles on my left flank. Good night, end of mission. Apparently hostile trucks managed to slip to Katita, I assume from the north.

Negades Virus

I was medic / Humvee driver in Evans' team (Alpha).  This wasn't easiest for the leader.  Lots of teams, vehicles, and mission setup that wasn't easiest to comprehend. Plenty of brainwork and people scattered across the maps.

Long transit, but things got interesting while in Negades suburb. Lots of engagements, some hostiles in the buildings, and one of these skirmishes cost us two casualties, including commander Evans. Doveman took over, but team was already very low on numbers. We managed to locate laptop, plant virus, and on our way back, I fucked it up and ruined mission for my team.

I completely forgot the car bomb situation. It was clearly brought up in briefing, but I simply didn't remember it when was time to drive to extraction. I steered too close to car, it wrecked our vic, and T-100 showed up to ruin the party. In hindsight the tank would have likely nuked us anyway had we survived the IED.

Mission like this is a nightmare to lead unless comms are top notch. I just observed from lowly medics point of view, but we had some issues with intra-squad comms as well. Again, copy the orders of team leader and listen to the man. If you have radio issues, announce ASAP, like Suchy did. They can likely be fixed, but going to mission without working comms leads to lot of issues.

Author, Treendy has obviously put lot of work hours to this mission (enemies in houses, interior decos, small details, voices etc), and with bit of tuning this has potential to be a good mission. I comment technical details in appropriate thread.

Autumn Star 2

The beef of the evening. Great mission with good clear briefing, nice details and variety of tasks.

Quote:What do we learn from that? If you want a job done, call the Army ^^

QFT (first attempt in mission doesn't count). I was Bravo actual. My team (Army) was  Unnamed, Mjolnir (MG) and  Alwarren (Heavy AT).  Variable (Alpha actual, Marine) ordered us to conduct hasty ambush for approaching heavy vehicles. We put simple line of mines, some explosive, and took positions on forest slope. Plan was to let the tanks come close, see if they hit our mines / charges, and engage remaining ones from side/rear.  Alwarren had heavy AT and Unnamed / MJ had AT-4s. We had only relatively few mines but got lucky as enemy BMP decided to run over it. Our AT eliminated first batch of vehicles, and Alwarren took out remaining tank at a distance with Javelin. Awesome job.

Our next  was to conduct recce of our next objective. Again Army executed task like bosses while Marines were still at camp mating with a stuck vehicle. Then we had some long range skirmishes, bit of a countryside driving  with our .50 cal Humvee, some supporting fire and in end we met some more serious opposition in final objective.

Mission moments were ambush in start and later on eliminating technicals, Alwarren using the .50 cal / eliminating the Shilka with SMAW in the end. It had potential to be a game changer for my team but we came out unscratched.

My team did top notch job. I appreciated intiative and people listening/paying attention. Leading is much easier when you get the feeling your team is on same page.  Small things, like Unnamed replacing used AT without separate orders, people already being in right vehicle when order to move was issued, stuff like that.

I also got very clear orders from my superior officer (aka Variable) and what I heard from command net, coop between all teams was smooth. Mission like this has a potential for a huge clusterfuck without coordination. Now it went well.

Stag aka Sarge

Prince of Persia VII

We got further this time. I was security specialist for Bravo under Variables command. There wasn't much of action for us but we played it safe anyway. We secured listening post, disabed security perimeter,  got charges set to our second objective until we heard HVT escaped. Again, I will take a look at this mission and see if it benefits from a minor facelift.
Resistance of Katita

I was Marksman in Dens team and with Doveman positioned in a Compound a bit forward of the teams position, at first shooting enemys 300m away cresting was no problem with the (t)rusty old lee enfield and we rarely had incoming fir to speak of. Later enemys started to come from further north which where more of a problem since we had less cover on our roofs and doveman and me where both hit a few min after each other but were able to help eachother out. when the vehicles came from north there was nothing we could do but shoot at them when they where at the towns wall which was also mission fail.

Negades Virus

I was Den's driver in the Tank team.
During the ingression we were lead vehicle and cleared the way for Bravo and Alfa while Charly was out for a day on the beach. Thanks to Valhalians reports we knew where enemys would be waiting on the road and den quickly dealt with them.
After Alfa split we went to charlys LZ as they had decided to get out of the water and join the fight. Bravo and Charly went up the hill and we followed 100m behind. We didn't really have a clear picture of what happened until Alias was back in our vehicle and told us that only him and Mjölnir where still alive.
we pushed on with them and took out the officer and the IFrit that probably hat obliberated the infantry. With the rests of Bravo (Alias) and Charly (Mjölnir) in tow we went up the hill to the Data Com station and "liberated it" loosing Mjölnir somewhere in progress.
As with Mjölnir the key was lost we synchronised shutting down the Com with the installation of the virus which worked on second attempt.
Somehow we lost Alias then no idea what happened.
Den and I then moved out and decided to try held the remains of Alfa and get to the Optional Extraction. unfortunately when we where just about there a T100 opened up on us and just when we were about to get away from him decided to fire his main gun and blow us to pices.

Autumn Star 2

loved this mission.
In the beginning at the ambush I must have missed the T72 passing the smoldering rests of the first two vehicles and didn't blow my charges.
really liked when we snuck up on the towns for recon and surprised the AI from different angles.
and even though i didn't get to take the shot i really liked sneaking up on the shilka that frightened the hell out of me when i first spotted it 100m away... also it provided a nice Fire to keep us warm while we were waiting for orders from Alfa
Resistance of Katita
We were able to wipe out pretty much all of the enemy before it swarmed us. Its all the more shame that one of the jeeps got through only to result in failed mission.

Negades Virus
Was a tough one to lead, so much kudos to Evans for doing such a great job. My perspective was that of the CAS pilot. I pretty much stuck to reconnaisance, as the AH9 aint the toughest aiframe in the 2035 NATO arsenal, not to mention the recent (at least subjectively perceived) decreased  effectiveness of the FFAR. But thats just me making up excuses to try and cover up my lacking flying skills. I suppose it was intended for the pilot to be able to repair his helo, but unfortunately the LR doesnt allow you to carry a tool kit.
I wasnt able to provide much cover for the retreating troops towards the end and was eventually downed by the incoming tanks. Nevertheless I must say I enjoyed the role. Im looking forward to trying the infantry role next time.

Autumn Star 2
Excellent mission by Suchy. My Charlie FT was tasked with holding the western forest-neighboring side, which didnt seem to offer much excitement compared to Alpha's and Bravo's sector, but we got our share of the action. Good thing was we had the Mk.19 to rain hell on the incoming enemy as we were facing some 2 squads worth trying to break through.
Once the assault was repelled we took the fight to the enemy. After clearing the first village, evidence of genocide was discovered, followed by final push into rebel main base of operations.
Thoroughly enjoyable mission and great performance from all. Have to commend Charlie for a job well done!

Prince of Persia VII
Great atmosphere goes without saying in a Stag mission. After the other team disabled the security sensors our team infiltrated the compound and was making good progress until we got discovered by a patrol and took casualties.
Without Banners
I hope we will get around to replaying this soon, as it sounds like a great mission. Unfortunately we werent very lucky on both of our tries. On second try it was an unfortunate driving accident on my part that scored a mobility kill on our tactical Hello Kitty vehicle while killing multiple friendly fighters in the second truck.

CSI Blufor
Brutal as always. Battling uphill made it even more "massacrous". Both teams were soon reduced to just a few men. But in the end they pulled it off. Well done!

Crash Site Red
Good mission! Both Viper Red and Green made very good and steady progress all the way to objective. We lost transport to enemy AA team and unfortunately only arrived at the crash site to find Unnamed's dead body. After returning to insertion point we cautiously advanced along the Viper Red's route. Then I decided to keep back 2 men for cover and dashed to the objective with Freemen on my heels, after both teams secured the drone. This misjudgment cost Viper Black Etzu and Misha. From there the mission went smoothly. End result: Victory!

Prodigal Son
Awesome shot taking out the BMP crew by Variable and no less excellent shot by Alwarren with the BMP cannon blowing the Hind from the sky. Unfortunately both teams took considerable casualties, but a victory was scored nevertheless. History wont ask!

Prince of Persia VII
Bravo took out the NSA Outpost, but then we were surprised by a response force, presumably raised by audible shots being fired by a guard.

I was enjoying this mission, was very hard, but as usual a great atmosphere... although this car was a concern...

CSI
I was leading Bravo and screwed up early on. We held position for a while to give Alpha time to get closer to the AO, then we moved in to get in range. The terrain was difficult, little cover and no good angle on the target site. After moving 100 or 200 meters I told the team to setup, spread out and get cover if possible.
After that I deemed the position as still to far away and bad to start engaging, so I moved on. My 'order' was however obviously not clear, since only two guys followed. I told the team to spread out as far as they need to get at least some cover, so I didn't think much off it that I didn't see them all when glancing over my shoulder to check if they were following...
There were some questions afterwards who the two guys were ahead of the 'formation', to make this clear: whoever they were they didn't do anything wrong, was my mistake for not making my intentions clearer.

This mission was witched. Current state of NAPA units is without itemRadios/maps/compasses which means headache for our (TFAR) setup. I do custom loadout for every unit manually to address this.

Both chosen ambush spots (x-roads, timber yard) would have likely worked. In fact most places works, as long you manage to stay out of sight until the right convoy. Unfortunately in latter attempt there was a strange incident with vehicles. I had camera elsewhere for a minute and when I returned, lead vehicle crew was dead/bleeding. At that point there were no enemy units within 300m radius. Bug/collision/witchcraft? It led to confusion and BMPs showed up to finish the party.

I adjust the timer a bit to give player a bit more time to set up a proper ambush. We also might consider replaying this after next CUP update just to be sure.

CSI Blufor

That got to be one of tougher objectives out there. Uphill battle (sic) and heavy casualties in mission start and long spectate (for me).  There wasn't really that many choices for Bravo. We weren't that effective from long distance so we had to push closer.

Crash site Red [FHQ]

This is turning out to be one of best replay-missions we have. I was Viper Green actual this time with Maverick as Heavy MG, Treendy as marksman and Brad as medic. Solid performance on VG everyone!

VG was to move on north side of road and V(Red) was moving on south. In start we got good overwatch position near windmill. I spotted drone/crash site at the distance. We also spotted Marshall APC and multiple infantry contacts at our chosen route. VRed opened up on the hostiles and my team joined in at a distance. We had three fighters with optics and dedicated marksman and we scored several hits on enemy infantry despite the range. At this point we also lost our helicopter. MANPADs fired from the crash site brought it down. I requested permission to push to crash site, but Viper Black was sent to that duty as my team was needed elsewhere. At that point things were quite tense.

VRed started push and we moved in on our side of road. When VRed started moving up hill my team was ordered to suppress and cover. However we weren't that effective from our position and we got orders to flank enemy on our own according original plan. We later discussed of suppressing enemy by just firing over their heads. That didn't even cross my mind at the moment  :o but I think Alwarrens plan to send VG to flank was a after all better move. We got close to crash site and opened up on hostiles at point blank range on the ridge and pulled at least half of the defenders on us, making it easier for Vreds final push. It turned out to be a short but brutal firefight and fortunately we didn't lose anyone permanently. Yet. Brad did good job as a medic and kept us running. We moved to drone, had visual of VRed and also more hostiles to south. At this phase I was killed and Treendy stepped up. Good itiniative there. Death cam revealed my infamous last words '1-2 hostiles, nothing we can't handle' was a modest estimate. There was 5-6 people and they gave remaining team quite a pressure.

Bit of a firefight, long trek and mission was complete.

Prodigal son [FHQ]

Prodigal son returns. Again.

I took lead of Alpha and Varanon commanded Bravo, aka 'Mech infantry'.

This time I wanted to try different setup. In previous missions we had always split up the teams. This time I wanted to keep both teams together, sneak up on the BMP, eliminate crews,  have Bravo commandeer it, use the BMP to take on the Hind and systematically steamroll the village with BMPs firepower in support. Plan, on paper, was good. Unfortunately it was good only for 75% of a time.

The good:

Setup/sneaking to target worked just fine. Goob work. Variable came up with idea of using SMAW HE to deal with the BMP crew from a ridge. This turned out to be a good idea (and initiative!). Both  teams stacked up behind buildings. Eliminating the BMP crew was critical for the plan to work. Bravo moved on right, Alpha on left. Variable opened up with  SMAW, teams opened up with grenades/40mms at point blank range, and it was short but brutal well executed fight and the opposite side had no chances.

Needless to say alarm was raised and what else was in the village now turned up on us. Alpha moved around building to left, BMP under Varanons command remained on right. Lots of fire, smoke, explosions. I didn't want to push until we had blunted the first wave of counterattack and, most critical, I didn't want to move until the Hind would be dealt with. Positions behind the rocks weren't that good, but building didn't have windows to that direction. I felt we could stand our ground for a while. In hind (sic) sight moving faster in start, right after BMP would be secure, might have been better. Like, immediately secure next set of builings 100m away, have BMP crew to secure other building, wait for Hind there.

Situation came to a static firefight and Hind showed up. Lots of explosions, smoke, confusion. I got Hind on binocs, and directed fire for BMP. Lots of tracer fire and our BMP scored lots of hits on the helicopter with PKT. Hind turned around, started to return fire. At this point I was sure the BMP was as good as dead but it survived, and scored two hits on Hind with a 2A28 Grom cannon. Splash one Hind. I wish I had gotten screenshot of this.  Absolutely fantastic Arma moment and gunnery by Varanon.

What happened next:

Both teams were still perfectly operational. My team started push on the left, moving to ditch. We took fire, but I assumed it was coming from frontal arch of us. I got report of hostiles in two story building ahead of us. I had crappy SA and I was still oblivious to fire coming in from behind/left. I wanted wait for BMP to set up, to use BMP's cannon to put some rounds on the building and then move on. As a result we stayed on ditch for too long.

I was using JSRS and incoming fire is very loud. I got hit, by what I thought was a tank cannon or a mortar round. It was really loud! I thought for a moment BMP had misidentified us and it was a hit from our BMPs cannon. But no. Infantry had snuck behind/left of us, and nuked us with 40mms.  They executed perfect ambush, and this time we were on receiving end. 30 secs and it was 80% casualties.

What should have happened:

Move faster. Simply put: Move faster and more decisively. Storm the 2-story building, take positions there. Good eyes to every direction and let the BMP deal the ambush on ridge with HE rounds, link up with us, and  then just push. We stayed on ditch. It was passable concealment, but not that good cover. During the mission both teams did good, very good. I just made a very bad call in the end which cost my team the mission experience.

With slightly different execution I believe 'southern approach' by both teams is still OK tactic.

The overall mission itself, was still winnable. There wasn't that much opposition left and it seems none of them had RPGs (How do I know this? Because BMP was still alive). BMP would have been perfectly capable of just steamrolling the rest of the compound and getting the trucks. They already had eliminated Bishop. However before they got to finish the mission properly, partial end was triggered.

As the end trigger wasn't intended, I vote we don't tick this as complete (so we get to play this again).

POP VII

The mission is still winnable but currently margin for error is too small. I adjust timer of the escape script to give player a bit more leeway to deal with the detection. Now there is certain trial-and-error factor involved.
Fun Throwback Thursday. All the missions were brand new to me. I hope it wasn't boring to you vets.

PMCVSORI -1,2

Two great missions. Unfortunately at first mission the swamp caused graphic issues. When we snuck on the camp I couldn't see a damn thing when looking to swamps direction. I had to shoot from the hip from BMP but it got blown to pieces.

Second mission was also foggy but no swamp this time. It had fun atmosphere and good infantry action with vehicle support.

I really liked setup of these missions. Short simple but challenging snacks (at least these two). They also had good well formatted briefings and interesting story. I like to know why I am going to field , who I am, who am I up against. I like briefings.  8)

Foehammer

I was a machinegunner in Evans' team.  They promised me action. They told me I get to shoot shitload of people. I had BSOD pre-traumatic stress reaction. When I reconnected it was too late. My biggest challenge was running down the stairs of doom. Waah.  I want my money back from enlistment office and a re-run. Well, a re-run will do.

My team was on rear guard outside and we saw Apache taking HMG hits from the north and it going down. Den said he has vision of crash site, maybe 400-500m. However evac helo had landed and my team was to board the helicopter. Variable was crawling (or running due bug) next to evac chopper (Apache gunner) so I assumed Alwarren too was dead as he wasn't there. Lots of confusion with stupid AI boarding helo and lift off.

Greenback Mountain [FHQ]

Beef with potatoes. Tough, chaotic, and lots of stress. One won't expect anything less from FHQer.

I was demolition spec in Alwarren's team with Suchy and ALIAS. Night was dark and full of (t)errors. Lots of grainy night vision, bit of fog? and plenty of challenges for situational awareness. Action at barn was juicy. We had vehicle, multiple infantry contacts in forest, lots of fire and confusion. I don't know who killed the vehicle but he probably saved us. We spotted number of contacts in treeline and forest beyond and traded shots with them.  Misha called in mortar fire on Alwarren's request. It helped but didn't eliminate the threat entirely.

We started pushing towards objective, amidst confusion. Alwarren kept my team in relatively compact formation so I knew where my team buddies were. That was a very, very  good thing. However during transit we had other teams here and there. It was small miracle we didn't get any blue on blue during the gauntlet in the forest. Lots of bushes, trees and only way for me to spot targets were muzzle flashes. In one instance I was being shot at from the left and got wounded. I returned fire and saw it was friendly. Too far to ID with Mk4 and I am not blaming anyone. It just was a genuine circus.

Radio tower was tough cookie. I never saw it as I was killed while storming the objective. We managed to survive until main gate where enemy machine gunner shot us through the bush. Got a nice screenshot of it. There is NFW he saw us but he heard us. Nothing wrong in suppressive fire but that wasn't the case. I observed this at close range. He didn't see a shit, but as soon Alwarren CRAWLED past the fence, he opened up.  Very good hearing ^^ . Happens.

Awesome mission. Real stress test to leaders. In hind sight we probably should have pushed from barn faster, using mortar liberally  to clear the forest of rabble and open the way and then just move in somewhat compact form. This isn't criticism to any leader and I honestly don't know if it had been any better. Most of our casualties were during storming the objective anyway, not in the forest run. This was tough as nails mission to anyone who was in charge, especially Misha who had lots of teams to handle.

Oh. I liked the Monet's painting on load screen.

Hi all : )

I was pleased you played my Negades Virus mission last night (and thanks for the extra ratings and comments on steam), just gutted I was working so couldn't attend  :-[

I hope to see a full report please, very interested to know how you approached it, what teams did what, and also, did you make good use of the Blackfoot and tank team etc...

I have had some feedback already and will tweak the mission based on what I read here too.
Negades Virus

I was part of the diver team.

If I'm perfectly honest, there ins't too much to say about the mission. It all went well and there weren't any major incidents, except for some technical issues with the upload/comms center.

Deciding Factor

I really like the Vt5 terrain. It doesn't provide much in terms of locales, but what it does , it does really really well. The forest we had to clear was pretty dense and it was hard spotting enemies at time. I got shot by a stray bullet somewhere in the middle and got a bird's eye view of Bravo getting mopped up by an M1A1.

Harvest Glow

Back on Lingor, haven't been here for a while Smile

I already listed the issues we encountered on the mission's thread. Apart from those, Den did a good job at leading except for one incident that I would have liked to be handled a bit better - the final assault on the villa. The shooting had already started before we even got up the hill, a bit more coordination between the teams would have been preferrable. This time it went fine since there wasn't so much resistence to begin with, but it could have gone south pretty quickly.

It's a nit-pick though.

Breaking the Line

A few issues with the scripting, but overall, this was a good mission. Very nice atmosphere. The choppers were pretty botched though, I would have hoped for a real extraction - somehow, a mission feels incomplete without it.

Other than that, good leading by Varanon and good performance by the teams.
Negades Virus

Coordinated people for half an hour then ran into a room and stared at an enemy before getting shot in the face. #missionleadershouldnotgoonpoint
Negades Virus

Mission was a nice moody combined arms op against relatively light opposition.

This time I was a medic under Valhalians competent leadership with Evans and Manuel. Medicwise there was very little to do. I cured one diver with a broken nail and runny nose that was about it. During transit my team secured roadsides/buildings, and moved up the hill with rest of the teams. Breaching the data center was less eventful of us. At this point we lost Outlawz and Freeman took over.

We got to some action in town as we provided overwatch/supported other teams busy with the laptop. I stayed back as the big mean ugly grunts of my team brought the violence to the enemy. In town I got to two firefights, two bursts, two t's down.

I didn't mind lack of direct action (I was a medic anyway) It was fun to listen command grid and hear teams doing their parts. We had plenty of support, AH99 and Marshal. That packs  a lot of firepower.  Flipside is, if vehicles are doing their job properly there's always less job for infantry. Now it was ok. Vehicles dealt with long range threats and infantry mopped town/base.

Deciding factor

I had a typo in Zeus unit so my divine interface refused to open. All my planned sadistic surprises went down the drain. I was demoted to lowly grunt and joined Manuals team on ground until American tank turned us to ketchup.

Harvest Glow

I really liked the map and mission setup was basically good, save long and uneventful foot march to objectives.  Opposition was relatively light and I would have assumed the villa would have been defended more heavily. I had still plenty of work as machine gunner. Great leading Den and Alwarren. Always pleasure.

Breaking the line

After two failed attempts due bonehead helicopter third time was the charm with divine assistance. Varanon was in command of Alpha, I took lead of Bravo. I got very clear orders from my superior (Varanon) and my team did solid job.

I liked weather/milieu. Driving the boat in heavy sea state was fun and it was quite atmospheric experience. Sweeping the island was bread and butter infantry job. My team had one tougher firefight and Variable's medical talents kept us going.

Final objective was very lightly defended. I was preparing my team for brutal CQB assault but it turned out Alpha had already cleared compound. We set charges, did our job, and boss was pleased. Nice mission and look forward to more from the author.
few technical problems this time, but still fun.

Free Press

when we aproached the building i had some which slowed me down in my landing progress as I didn't want to crash a full chopper. I turned the right side of the chopper towards the building to give the guys on the skids a shot at an anemy on the building but caught a bullet. I jammed the collective up and activated auto hover so they were able to jump and afterwards miserably failed my emergency landing attempt.

Angel of death

this mission didn't like me xD

on landing at the LZ at the first attempt i noticed my pedals weren't working. so after dropping off the ground team I landed a bit further away and tried remapping and unplugging the pedals, didn't work. we were called for firesupport and managed to get some fire on the enemy FOB. afterwards i tried to land again and failed to notice that the gear indicator in the hud was missing and also broke the mainrotor on a building i had not quite cleared (was too worried that my pedals had broken down probably). Varanon tried soem magic, but due to the retracted gear it was no use. restarted arma and noticed that the  programm (antmicro) i use to map radio keys to my joystick was for some reason giving constant input for the pedals, restarted it and we were good to go...

Lesson from second attempt, dont trust bullet proof glass. I was one shotted whe I though I could sneak us up on that guard tower to engage at close range.

third try went much better, i missjudged how hard i needed to brake and landed a bit slower than I had planed. but this time fire support on the FOB went like a charm (much easier with working peal input) even though ammo in the miniguns is quite limited. we were almost RTB when Outlawz suggested we pick up the ground team before we go RTB as it would be much faster to RTB with them and then dropp them off instead of coming back all the way south to get them.
we picked them up and deployed them on Mike26 which was when the mission ended quite abbrubtly.

Free Press

After the second chopper crash landed, I thought bravo team was lost since I had no answer from them for a long time. Of course, everyone had ditched their backpacks (including the long range) for parachutes.

The rest of the mission went relatively smooth, minus the usual bollocks with AI.

Angel of Death

Let's forget the technical difficulties and concentrate on the attempt that worked, hehe. From my perspective as a door gunner, all went smooth. Those miniguns are hard to aim with, though... you'd think they'e be killers, but they are inaccurate as hell. And it's hard to aim from a moving chopper.

Anyway, we all know the mission ended prematurely, basically in the middle of the fight...

El Chapo

I have to admit that I found this mission rather confusing. I never really knew where I was, and later in the city I was lost and killed by someone somewhere with some weapon (and the last sentence describes my feeling adequately).

I also think that the search area should be smaller.. it's always a literal drag to find the one guy hiding in one building in a town with 100 of them...

Raid and Rescue

This mission was plagued with AI driving problems. Not much to be said about it. Looked good, and I'm sure it's a good mission once the problems are fixed. I'm definitely up for retrying it.
