"<Word cannot be printed here> did your -censored- just -censored- do?! Can't you for once get your -censored- engineers do something right?! My heater in my barracks isnt still repaired, my coffee is cold and two of your rascals, speaking with Swedish accent, one lieutenant and someone else, grabbed my medtruck, almost overran my sergeant, and casually drove it off like it was their personal sports car. Do you expect me to patch this mans chest with glue and staples?!".

"Uh yes sir. Right away sir. I shall investigate at once sir"

Subsequent inquiry to incident revealed that two men (who have not yet been reliably identified) had casually grabbed Mobile Medical Trauma Unit from the hands of medical team providing life saving first aid. Fortunately the truck was returned in one piece. I explained that my men are engineers, not geniuses. I can't expect them to read tasks or to tell a difference between Mobile Command Truck and Medical Trauma Unit.  Medical officer calmed down and no one was court martialed.

Well played Stag. Had a good giggle reading that.  8)
Stag, you mentioned your completed this mission with a team of four. We had two teams working on two objectives most of the time, so how did you manage to finish it faster with such a small team?
I checked playtime from SWEC and difference wasn't really that big after all. We played on easier difficulty, used mumble, all in one channel, and some of us have played together for 6-7 years (not Arma mind you) so some practical stuff was smoother (but not as realistic). We also went more straight forward in some phases, and were able to catch ambushing team on road, and cut them down with .50 cal. Good luck in couple of instances.

I stress that my comment about playtime was purely criticism of my mission design, not performance of either teams. From my perspective, both teams did very good job.
I just wanted to write a quick recap of my friendly fire incident during Winter's road last saturday:
First of all sorry to the whoever was on the receiving end.
We (alpha and bravo) were at the old industrial complex. We did have info about possible friendlies nearby. After seeing a lot of artillery shells going down around us I must have mentally scratched the possibility of friendlies beeing alive there.
Unfortunatelly Alpha had somebody still out there, which I wasn't aware of. Beeing pretty twitchy after the explosions and an Mi8 flying overhead I was in "shoot-first-ask-later" mode when those people from Alpha finally returned.

Lessons learned? No "shoot-first-ask-later" I guess, and don't focus to much on one event in expense of overall situational awareness.
I should also have notify you of incoming friendliest.

Also - threat assessment.

Two guys on a Quad bike are hardly dangerous. You can easily use that to identify targets, but everybody was immediately opening up at the first sign of movement.

HQ had warned there are other friendlies out there, so it is double important to check your fire.

If this was where I think, then I was on the roof at the time, we were told friendlys are due in from north west, then the quad bike came charging in from the east.... I did shout out "enemy to the east"... maybe I should have said "infantry to the east", but they were moving in too fast (I didn't open fire though)

Good point.

In this particular case I only saw that it was a quad after I opened up. I was shooting right when I saw heads appearing (again: I was kinda twitchy atm, expecting to be ambushed any second...). When I saw the lower half of what was coming (so the quad bike), it was already too late :/

But yeah, I guess thats part of what I mean by no "shoot-first-ask-later", if I would have waited one more second I would have seen what it was. So to rephrase: no shooting before it's clear what the target is (?)

I think I have explained what was going on in my head at that time, so I'm going to leave it at that. Again, my appologies to the victims, was not my brightest moment.

yeah, i fucked up navigation a bit and we arrived on the road.. just a few degrees, but a few hundred meters off, i only had time to call it out on shortrange before we had view of the building

The good part about Arma 2 was that it had more civilian assets. If civilians are involved identifying your target becomes even more viable.

I love you Smile
Clear Agia Marina

I guess going over the street was the best idea. The hillside was pretty exposed, and unfortunately got spotted there.

Winter's Pack

Can I say I loved this mission? Yes I can. I loved this mission. Highlight of the evening. Stealth missions are hard to pull off and this one did pull it off.

I think my approach was pretty solid. We got pretty far without getting detected, and if the AI would react to the noise instead of the triggerman, blowing up the trucks at the first camo net would have drawn some of them away. The way that we approached this I think worked well.

TBH, I am not quite sure were things went south. Unfortunately Variable shot his AT at a UAZ, but TBH, in the darkness and snowstorm that was the best thing to do, because it could have easily been a BTR-80 or something worse, and we were able to pick up more AT on the way.

The Shilka really was a problem. It was too bad we lost sight of it.

I should really make a habbit of recording Stagwine's missions. They're always top notch.

Two things I have to say though:
1) If your leader speaks, everybody else be quiet. We had multiple cases of that, and one time it made me get loud.

2) One comment I got during the mission was "I don't think it is a good idea to go after the Shilka". Never question my decision once I made it. I was the squad leader, and I had decided to try and hunt down the Shilka, and I really don't care who thinks this is a good or bad idea.

Not that I would need to explain this, but the reason I was trying to get the Shilka was because I didn't want it to come in our backs when we were engaging the BM-21's. It made a lot of sense to try and hunt it down, and the only reason I gave up on it was because it had moved out of range and there was little point in trying to hunt it down in a snow storm by night.

30m Frogs

The armor of these guys is insane. They just won't die, you have to expend at least half a magazine. Other than that, it's a cool mission, and execution wasn't bad except for Charlie team getting wiped out.

The Akala Situation

I think this mission really needs support vehicles or repair specialists. With all the AT around it is really hard not to get hit, especially since it is almost entirely open field and engagement range is beyond the zeroing of the main gun.

Also, if the gunner and driver switches positions, of course the gunner needs to switch to the driver seat, otherwise, yes we don't have a driver. Also, if you think you cannot fullfil a role, think about that before you take the slot. If there is no free slot in the slot screen, make it known that you want to switch and give the reason. But do not take a slot if you are unsure you can handle it.

Sar-E-Sang Interception

When the APC engaged us, I think at least for the lead vehicle it was the best decision to drive forward behind the buildings.

I got shot by a single guy on the mountain top. No fire, no tent, nothing, he was just standing there. Damn campers Smile

Jolly Green

I got shot out of the cockpit by Katiba Snipers each and every time.  I was so proud I landed the chopper on that tiny little lawn in front of the house and got immediately headshotted by a guy from the hillside.

Lesson learned, try to find an angle which is safe to land in first, although most of the time it's essential to get out there quick especially if cover is flaky...
D: I missed a well made stealth mission pulled off and there's no recording? Sad
