Hi comrades Smile
The AAS tournament Armed Global Warfare Campaign 4 will start in ca. 4 weeks.
I will participate in this tournament together with the guys from the Basecamp Allstars. I have spent very enjoyable AAS sessions during the past few weeks on their public AAS sever where I experienced a kind of teamplay I never would have expected in a public game mode like AAS.

The AGW C4 campaign will bring this teamwork to a new, more organised level. The players will sign up for two armies which are organised into a platoon like formation similar to the structure we use for our pre-planned missions with players specialising in various roles (e. g. crew for aircraft and tanks, infantrymen, medics...). The hierarchy is not strict or militaritic though. The atmosphere of communication is calm and respectful like we are used to it here in CiA.
The Basecamp army/squad/team will most likely play Opfor in this campaign.

I would like you to consider joining in on this tournament. If you are interested or have any questions please don't hesitate to reply to this post or contact me personally via PM.

Iin a nutshell:

    * PvP only
    * Two army MP Campaign
    * AAS GameMode
    * 30vs30 up to 50vs50
    * Middle and large missions
    * One TS3 server; multiple channels and channel commander used
    * Basic structure into teams and FTL for communication and organization
    * Start in 4 weeks
    * One game per week: Every Sunday
    * Campaign will last about 8-15 weeks
    * Game start at 18 CET; meet up is 30 minutes prior
    * Maximum game length is 4x 1 hour matches
    * Post game there is an army debrief
    * One can join late or leave already; in other words one can play less than 4 hours
    * Sign in tool to be used to show ones participation on the upcoming Sunday
By the way: you can sign up anytime during the tournament and bug out anytime you want.

So don't be shy and give it a try Wink
Guess you play 1.54 now? I'll try update CiA server this weekend but no guarantee.
Have played a couple of nights there Zwo, and I'm sorry to say it's nothing for me.
Coop is non-existent, no plan, no teamwork, nothing at all, just the occousanally "help me, I'm injured" in text channel from time to time (30+ players on server, 1 on Mumble, guess who?).
But that's a minor issue compared to all missions is really unbalanced, bluefor has all the goddies and opfor need to meet armour and air with FNL??? Ex. lots of rockets laying around but no launchers.
Feels a bit unfair when I got sniped at home base at mission start when I'm checking crates for a simple AK....
Maybe, if missions had a proper, balanced load-out at start it could be fun.

But then again, that was why I started play on CiA server once in far history, hard missions and tight teamwork but doable. Guess that suits to me better than 100 players running around with no goal.
Please don't judge me to hard, it's just not my game of choice, I feel better on CiA server using "brain and cunning".
You should really join us agan, from time to time, I bet missions can challange even you Smile

Edit:
Might have been too harsh in my judgement, have to say noone from Basecamp was online, and noone I could recognice from when I played with you Zwobot. Gyess it's kind of player-related too.
Are you on Basecamp tonight Zwo?
Yeah, I'm right now.

If however the CiA server is patched to 1.54 already and some people want to play I'd gladly join  Wink

I'm on TS as well...
Won't be before Saturday, I don't bother transfer 1.8 GB data 4 KM, I'll drive it Wink

It definitely is player related and also mission related. Some maps attract more snipers and campers than others. Camping snipers do not win AAS matches, players who actually attack and conquer enemy bases in an organised manner win AAS matches.
If only public players are around who do not join the voice server it is very unorganised of course. As soon as some regulars are on and coordinate via voice server it becomes better.

Yesterday was the first test match for the upcoming AGW campaign and I can tell you the gameplay is completely different than on the public server. It is ten times more focused even if many regulars are playing on the public server.
In AGW everybody is organised into squads which are ordered by the commander to defend or attack certain objectives and which type of vehicles they are allowed to use. After an objective has been conquered or the enemy defence is too strong the attacking and defending squads may be rotated. The players inside an individual squad try to stay together just like in a Coop game to maximise their chances of success.

Yes, Blufor has better equipment but I tell you what: in the test match yesterday, Redfor won three times in a row - once winning the mission before the timelimit was reached. It all boils down to quality of the players and how they work together. An M1 tank is nothing but cannon fodder if it is crewed by fools who rush into a well defended enemy base without any supporting units whatsoever.

Regarding your problems with the kit selection: You are an AAS newbie  Wink, so was I a few weeks ago. It's only a matter of experience. AAS has a set of predefined classes with corresponding gear loadouts. They are customisable to some extent but not too much. You can also use a custom loadout, however you will lose your special ability if you do so (e. g. can't heal or revive players as Medic). Unfortunately there is no English version of Cat_Toaster's AAS guide yet, it explains all of this very well...
I'll try join one time when you are on Zwo, I know AAS is better than my latest experience with it.
Rgr, I won't be playing again before Thursday. Next AGW Scrim (test match) is on Sunday I think.
I'd fancy some Coop again too if there are enough players.

By the way: There is a Combined Operations event on the Basecamp server tomorrow and I think it will be switched to CO permanently afterwards.
Hi, Zwobot,

How have the AGW matches gone?
The first battle was fought last Sunday.
Redfor (the side I'm playing on) clearly lost the first round due to Blufor's overwhelming equipment on the map which was played.
The second round ended in a draw.
In the third round our squad was hiding over 10 minutes close to the attacking zone after a stealthy insertion by helicopter. Finally the second attacking squad got into position on the other side of the attacking zone while our squad still was luring undetected waiting for our air-group to prepare the attacking zone with airstrikes. Then the order came to storm the zone; we successfully decamped the zone by assaulting from two sides simultaneously and were able to hold it till the end of the round what brought us a victory in round three. This was a blast.
Blufor eventually won the first battle after a very well coordinated attack in the last minutes of the fourht (and final) round.

Battle #2 is taking place this Sunday.

It is very entertaining, I'm in a good squad with a very competent leader. It's a lot of fun, the kind of gameplay you'll find on public AAS servers is nowhere near the focused efforts of two organised teams fighting each other like in AGW.
